A day saved by good company
Observations:
The 19th August 2026 is would not be a day that would go down in the record books for Blåvand huk. At 5:45 we trodded out towards the hole once again and acclimated ourselves as the forecast promised some strong winds that would maybe with time blow in some seabirds. The forecast was “amended”, and we got let down.
Luckily for us we had the company of David to keep our spirits high. We needed this as the ocean kept sending parts of its water over our heads in aggressive bursts.
After standard I headed home to lead the coffee project. David and Jonas returned after approx. 40 minutes and got greeted by Bent and I starting on the coffee. The highlight of the day was probably the good conversations over the same coffee today.
The birds today looked a lot like they’ve done all week. A steady stream Oystercatchers (Haematopus ostralegus), Red Knots (Calidris canutus) and Bar-Tailed Godwits (Limosa lapponica) and two beautiful Grey Plover (Pluvialis squatarola) paints a picture of a decent but not impressive morning.
