Good day to raise your Yellow Eyebrow!

Morgenobs:

A nice and quiet obs today. Even slightly warm, 10 degrees celcius and 6 meters per second from east. The calm and slightly warm(ish) weather allowede for the barn swallows (landsvale) to migrate. I have missed the dearly and was quite happy o see more than a hundred today. Like the other three privious days i also had a member of the harrier family flying be the obs. Today it was another hen harrier (blå kærhøg) flying briefly by me. Raptor wise the day was actually decent with 3 sparrowhawks and a peregrine falcon as well (spurvehøg og vandrefalk). I also had some greylay geese (grågås), brant geese (knortegæs) and even 8 barnacle geese (bragæs). Combined with wigeons, pintails and teals (svømmeænderne pibeand, spidsand og krikand) and the usual finches it was actually a quite decent day! The day got even better after the obs when Anna Beluga and Lua caught us something nice, but more on than in a bit! Therefore this fits right in with all the other nice days in blåvand:) - SDP

Ringmærkning:

The morning started of strong with alot of diffrent species and soon improved with the arrivel of the first Siskin( Grønsisken)! A beautiful young female!

Soon we got a huge flock of blue tits coming in which had been the peak number wise of the day!

On a slower round, with only 3 birds, Anna Beluga came back with the bird of the day, a Yellow-browed Warbler (Hvidbrynet Løvsanger)!! We have heard rumors about them being in the area and now here it was in our net!

And then just as we were about to close the nets, we had another little delight, a stunning fire crest( Rødtoppet Fuglekonge) ! We caught it at the same time as a gold crest (fuglekonge), this provided a great opportunity to highlight some key features and differences between these two lovely species! 

With several highlights, another great day at Blaavand ringing station has finished!
