Quality over quantity

Morgenobs:
I really didn't know what to expect today with 13 meters per second from southwest. Or well i know not to expect an awful lot. It was too windy for passerines, pipits and finches (sangere, pibere og finker), and not western enough for sheerwaters, skuas and stormpetrels (skråper, kjover og stormsvaler). But i did expect a whole lot of fun with my co-observers. Today i had the pleasure of having Thomas, Gustav and Anna Beluga joining me for the morning obs. Not alot happened in the first interval, but in the second interval we had a Hobby (lærkefalk) flying south FAST along the beach. Thomas spotted it and was quick to call it out, and i confirmed it due to its orange-brown pantaloons and lenghtwise stripes. And birds up close is the general theme of today, as we had a razorbill (alk) almost on the beach. It came flying almost above land! We had a great look at that, and noticed some features like a more pointing beak that tells it apart from the guillemot (lomvie)... And then we had a guillemot! Again practically on the beach, how nice to have them both up close in the same day. Really nice sight. Lise and Mathilde saw the guillemot as well as they joined us for the last half and hour of the obs.
We also had a Kittiwake (ride) and little gull (dværgmåge) strugling with the harsh wind today. So today was no great in numbers, but it was amazing in quality!

But alas, today was also a sad day as Gustav left the station. I really enjoyed his company at the morningobs and at the station in general for the three weeks he was here. We are all gonna miss him, but hope he will have a nice trip to the Phillipines and Australia! 551321369 822944096747858 2304256920382551174 n

Ringmærkning:
No ringing today due to strong winds, so i had the pleasure of having most of the ringers stop by the obs:)
